|Have you ever noticed that your mouth might have a life of its own? What we mean by that is your mouth may pop, crack, or make squeaking noises all on its own. You may not even realize that your mouth could make all those noises you never heard before.
Some people have reported their mouth can pop loud enough to sound like a gunshot- that's bound to get someone's attention. If you are one of those people, and your mouth is making noise, how do you get it to stop? First, you need to figure out why your mouth is talking without you. Second, you need to figure out how to make it stop.
Your significant other may have told you that your mouth pops, cracks, or squeaks during the day, and especially when you're asleep. All of these noises come from you clenching or grinding your teeth.
It's not just popping and cracking that is the problem. You may have noticed tooth pain, or even sinus pain. These sounds can also come with cracked or chipped teeth. You may have noticed your teeth tend to wear down more quickly- they look flatter, or they end more suddenly. Tiny cracks can also appear in your teeth as well.
Not all of the changes in your mouth are painful. You might notice your jaw muscles hurt, or they seem tired. All of that pain and soreness comes from teeth grinding. Also, these muscles spread out like a fan along your skull and cause headaches, neck aches, and even shoulder pain. Your sleep may suffer as well. Research shows that teeth grinders do not sleep as deeply as non-grinders.
What Options Do You Have?
So, what's a person to do? Luckily, your teeth clenching and grinding can be fixed quickly and easily with a nighttime mouth guard. These guards work by making sure you aren't clenching or grinding your teeth. If you don't grind your teeth, you avoid popping and cracking of your teeth or jaw. You also will sleep more deeply, and avoid neck and jaw pain. That seems like a great deal.
