Oftentimes people ask how you know how long you have brushed for? Are there ways to know when you don't have a timer handy? There are many little things you can keep in mind when it comes to brushing for the whole two minutes.
Pediatric dentists usually give out small timers that go for two minutes and when the sand is at the other side, it means it is time to stop brushing.
Here are some clever ways to know if you've brushed the full two minutes.
Count Those Mississippi's
By counting 60 Mississippi's twice, you will have brushed around the two-minute mark. That is the goal when it comes to brushing! Plus, this is a great way to keep your mind occupied during the time.
You can sing the ABC's, but with this one you have to make sure that you sing it around three times. This is because just once is not enough. To reach the two minutes, three times is close enough.
Down By the Bay
Where the watermelons grow, is where you can find a song that is not only fun and catchy to sing but just about two minutes when sung. Sing it out loud or have it on an MP3 player and you're set to brush your teeth to some awesome tunes.
Some dentists believe that the way you brush is actually more important than the time you brush. By using complete strokes against all areas of the teeth, you can effectively remove the plaque and build up that accumulates there.
