What is Involved in the Digital All-on-4 Process?
Optisplint – Digital Implant Position Capturing
We start with a 3-dimensional x-ray to evaluate the current condition of your teeth and to see the bone volume you have in your upper and lower jaws. We also take a scan of every new patient with our Cerec Primescan camera, which provides a digital model of your teeth. With an all-on-4 procedure, it is saved for terminal dentition where there are many problematic areas and the only solution is to remove an entire arch of teeth. The day that the teeth are removed, implants will be placed with the assistance of our Yomi dental robot. The Yomi robot assisted dental surgery ensures precise and accurate placement of each dental implant. Once these dental implants are placed, we use a system called the Optisplint, which allows for digital recognition of where these implants are located in your jaw bone. Once this information is acquired, it can be merged with the scan that was taken of your teeth in the beginning, as well as the initial design of your new teeth. The digital set of new teeth now can be merged with the implant positions and 3D printed! Your new 3D printed teeth are delivered the very same day! How is this Different than Other All-on-4 Providers?
Traditionally, this all-on-4 dental implants procedure wasn’t done digitally. Implants would be placed without any guide and a conventional denture would be drilled out to create holes for the implants. The process is very messy and time consuming. The results are very scattered too, due to the need for chairside conversion of a denture – things can shift, dentures can look very unesthetic and these prosthetics can be very prone to breaking. With 3D printed materials, the strength and esthetics is fantastic and can be remade very easily if things need to be adjusted.
